All plates are colored using screen printing and show each species of bird with a nest and egg for each. Arthur Landsborough Thomson (b. 1890) was a well acknowledged scientist from Edinburgh and Aberdeen and twenty years of age when this work was published. It is his best known work. Rankin's illustrations later became very popular when some species appeared on cigarette cards. This is a fine, indexed compendium.
