New York: Th. Kelly, 1869.  17 3/4 x 24 7/8.  Lithograph.  Original hand coloring.  Good margins.  Two repaired tears just reaching into top of print and several slight stains in margins.  Overall very good condition and brilliant color. 

A forthright and colorful American sporting print from the mid-19th-century firm of Thomas Kelly.  Like most of Kelly’s production, the subject of the print is solid ‘Americana’ similar to the work of his New York contemporaries, Currier & Ives.  But what makes this lithograph so distinctive are the primitive design and renderings, as well as the brilliant colors and strong color contrasts.
