Philadelphia: Insurance Company of North America, 1938. Color pictorial map. 21 ½ x 30. Very good condition. Framed.
This pictorial map celebrates the history of the Volunteer Fire Departments in the city of Philadelphia. The map is bordered with illustrations of the various volunteer fire companies from 1736 to 1860. This colorful map was issued by the Insurance Company of North America and pictorial maps, such as this example, were quite popular in the early 20th century. These maps were produced in large numbers, but are scarce today since they were issued for promotional purposes. Overall, an informative and decorative map.
