A map of Vermont from the second atlas published in the United States. This atlas, the American Atlas, was published by John Reid in 1796, and it was to accompany Winterbotham's Views of the United States. This map shows the state of Vermont divided into seven counties and then into townships. The range of the Green Mountains is shown running down the state. Rivers and the nascent road system is also well illustrated. Interestingly, the Ottaquechee River is shown as the Waterguechec River and Dartmouth College is shown.
