A tranquil fishing scene by one of the most noted nineteenth-century British sporting artists, James Pollard. Pollard (1797-1867) was a painter and engraver noted especially for his coaching and other sporting prints. Later in his life he concentrated on painting, hiring others to do the engravings of his paintings.
