J. Pollard. “Fly Fishing.”

London: T. Helme, Nov. 17, 1831.  14 ¾ x 17 ¾ (image).  Aquatint.  Original hand color.  Mid to late 19th century re-strike.  Print laid on old board but stable.  Otherwise, very good condition.  Framed.

A tranquil fishing scene by one of the most noted nineteenth-century British sporting artists, James Pollard.  Pollard (1797-1867) was a painter and engraver noted especially for his coaching and other sporting prints.  Later in his life he concentrated on painting, hiring others to do the engravings of his paintings.
