G.W. Colton. “Philadelphia.”
Philadelphia: O.W. Gray, 1873. 15 x 12. Lithograph. Original hand color. Very good condition.
A nicely detailed map of Philadelphia by the Philadelphia firm of O.W. Gray. The firm began its publishing around mid-century and published regional and U.S. atlases up to the 1880s, first as O.W. Gray and then O.W. Gray & Son. This map is typical of their work, presenting the latest information available with precise detail and with attractive hand color. Each street is indicated, docks along the river are detailed, and the map also shows a number of the major buildings in the city.
