This detailed early map depicts the eastern United States, spanning the Atlantic seaboard from New England to the Georgia coast. It was created by Rigobert Bonne, a prominent French cartographer of the late eighteenth century. Renowned for his expertise in mathematics, physics, and geography, Bonne succeeded Jacques-Nicolas Bellin in 1773 as Royal Cartographer to France, serving in the office of Hydrographer at the Dépôt de la Marine.
