George White. “Map of Vermont”.
Greenbush, VT: George White, ca. 1850. Engraving on paper mounted to canvas and varnished as originally issued. Browning in map due to old varnish. Some vertical cracking in map as to be expected. Original hand color. With original rollers. Good condition. A/A
A small primitive hanging map of the state of Vermont by George White. Not much is known about White and his output but it appears that he stopped printmaking in the late 1850s. We can date this map post 1835 as the county of Lamoille appears in the map which was organized that year. Various counties are shaded in contrasting colors. White also issued an accompanying map of New Hampshire.
