Dean Wolstenholme painted many hunting, shooting and coursing scenes. A large number were inspired by hunting songs. Rudolf Ackermann was born in Germany in 1764 where he was trained as a lithographer. After moving to England in his twenties, he established a print shop in the Strand, London, where he sold prints, books, artist materials, and exhibited paintings. This set of four prints with verses was initially published by Burkitt and Hudson in 1817 and Ackermann acquired the plates to issue a later edition. These prints are 20th century re-strikes from the original plates. All in all, a very handsome set of British fox hunting prints.
Price is for the set of four.
