S. R. Wright.  [Pennsylvania Railroad Bridge, Philadelphia.]

1915.  Watercolor mounted to old artist board.  Signed and dated bottom right hand corner.  With stamp of artist name and address on verso.  Light mat burn in sky.  Else, very good condition.  A/A

This attractive watercolor shows the Pennsylvania Railroad viaduct over the Schuylkill River which still stands not far from the Girard Avenue Bridge.  In the background, the skyline of Philadelphia can be seen with City Hall prominently in the center of the image.  At that time, City Hall was the tallest structure in the city and would continue to be until the construction of Liberty Place in 1985.  Unfortunately, no information about this artist could be found.
