Bridgeport (CT):  Josiah B. Baldwin, 1840. 6 7/8 by 4 5/8.  [24 pages]  Nicely detailed woodcut on front cover of an early steam locomotive pulling two cars loaded with goods, plus seasonal-appropriate woodcuts for each month.  Expected wear and some internal markings;  otherwise good condition.

A lifelong resident of Fairfield County, Connecticut, in which Bridgeport is located, Elijah Middlebrook, M.D.(1785-1859) practiced medicine there for over fifty years.  For nearly as long he was a prolific almanac compiler, most often for the Connecticut latitude and longitude, but occasionally for other locations, particularly in the Carolina and Georgia area of the south.
