An advertising image issued by the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company from Manchester, N.H.  Following the Civil War, American manufacturing was selling throughout the world. Machinery of all kinds was selling at a great pace and prints like this one were used to promote manufacturers products.  Sally Pierce in her book Boston Lithography states that “the advertising chromolithographs by Charles H. Crosby are among the most spectacular and beautifully colored examples of the genre printed in Boston.  Crosby’s output was prolific and vigorous, and his work deserves to be better known.”
