Unattributed.  “United States & Macedonian.”  From Geschichte des Americanischen Kriegs, von 1812 vom Unfang bis zum endlichen Schlutz Desselben, an dem glorreichen Uchten Januar, 1815, vor Neu Orleans.

A print from the first German language edition of William McCarty's History of the American War of 1812…, published in Reading, Pennsylvania.  Initially issued in Philadelphia in 1816, it was the first publication to name the hostilities as “The War of 1812.”  It not would be for another 30 years that the name of the war became fixed in American History.
