H. A. Ogden.  Plate 27.  “Campaign Uniform-Field-Line & Non-Commissioned Officers & Privates, 1861-1866.”

From Uniforms of the United States Army, 1774-1889.  New York: B. M. Whitlock, ca. 1890.  13 x 11 ½ (image).  Chromolithograph.  Very good condition.

Born in Philadelphia, Ogden received his initial instruction in art at the Brooklyn Institute and the Brooklyn Academy of Design.  He worked for Frank Leslies Illustrated Newspaper that allowed him to travel extensively around the United States and Europe.
