With center fold and guard end on verso and two vertical folds right and left hand side of map as originally issued. Faint center fold stain from binder's glue. Some scattered foxing. Else, very good condition.
One of the earliest prints maps of Hawaii from Captain James Cook's voyages to the Hawaiian islands in 1778. The inset map is of Karakakooa Bay, present Kealakekua Bay day where Cook died in 1779. The islands are named: Owyhee, Mowee, Morotoi, Ranai, Woahoo, Atooi and Oneeheow. The map was engraved by J. Butler for an Irish edition of Cook's third voyage to the Pacific.
