A study of Charles Balthazar Julien Févret de Saint-Mémin's work in the U.S. from 1796 to 1810. During this fourteen year sojourn, Saint-Mémin (1770-1852) made nearly 1,000 portraits as he traveled along the East Coast, depicting presidents Washington, Adams and Jefferson, as well as Mother Seton, Paul Revere and many others.
