The 4 March event appeared with gusto twelve days later in this New York publication.  The not yet famous Winslow Homer was not credited at the time, probably due to the rush to publish the magazine throughout the country.  Abraham Lincoln is seen in his carriage passing by the West Front of the Capitol where a steel and stone fence still exists and before the Bartholdi steps would be built.  The crowd appears positive and enthusiastic.  An important event.
