Madrid: I Boix, 1848.  Two volumes in green leather with gold lettering and tooling on spine.  Marbled end papers.  Both volumes are shelf worn and covers of both volumes have been professionally reinforced.  Most of the engraved plates are foxed.  Two  volumes:

A fine work showing architectural examples in many countries throughout the span of recorded time.  As the nineteenth century approached mid-term, publications such as these two volumes led to eclecticism in Victorian architecture.  The crisp, clear lines were made possible by steel engraving techniques that became available during the industrial revolution.  These are fine examples of printmaking in this age.
