Prints by Elizabeth Lentz Horter
(1900-1985)
Elizabeth Lentz (Horter) is probably best known as the wife of Earl Horter. She planned her own obscurity because she promoted her husband and his work throughout difficult times. In her own right, though, she was a fine painter, illustrator, teacher and print maker. Because she did little to promote her own work, it is difficult to date her prints and paintings precisely; however, it is said that after Earl Horter's death, she signed her work with her maiden name, Elizabeth Lentz. Well-executed and designed, her works are found in the media of watercolor, etching, lithography and woodblock.

- "Nude." 6 7/8 x 9. Etching. Signed in pencil, "Elizabeth Lentz." The influence of Brancusi and modernist sculpture is evident in this composition. Some slight imperfections; overall, very good condition. $375
