Prints by Adolf Arthur Dehn
(1895-1968)
A fully committed American artist of his generation, Adolf Arthur Dehn was a painter, watercolorist, sculptor, and printmaker, and he taught in all those fields. Born in Waterville, Minnesota, he studied at the Minneapolis School of Art from 1914-17 with Boardman Robinson and Kenneth Hayes Miller. In the 1920s he traveled throughout Europe and lived in Vienna. In the 1930s he returned to America and worked in and out of New York City. He recorded much about American people and places while developing new techniques in lithography. He has been described by P.H. Falk in Who Was Who in American Art as a good natured satirist and keen observer.
