Thure de Thulstrup.  "Battle of Allatoona Pass"  [Georgia]

Boston: L. Prang & Co., 1887.  15 x 21 3/4.  Chromolithograph.  Very good condition.  A/A

After the fall of Atlanta in 1864, Confederate forces led by Major General Samuel G. French, attacked the Federal garrison at Allatoona Pass.  The Federal troops, under the command of Brigadier General John M. Corse, successfully defended the railroad line from a pair of strong redoubts. This print was first issued by the Boston Prang firm, and then reissued a few years later by the American Lithographic Co..  The image was made by chromolithography, where each color was printed by a separate stone.  Well detailed and finely colored, this is an excellent print that would have been sold to veterans of the great conflict.
