This print is an identical version of another print issued by Schile but with the addition of a tinted background/border and new title. This print shows a wonderful arrangement of twelve scenes of American history and two buildings of the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia. These scenes, woven into a decorative lattice, portray highlights in American history - from "Drafting the Declaration of Independence" to Abraham Lincoln's "Entry into Richmond". Columbia is depicted top center holding an American flag and a laurel wreath accompanied by a bald eagle. On either side is a locomotive, a plow and a beehive which are symbols representing American industry and agriculture.
