With the success of Currier & Ives, several other lithographic print firms sprang into existence around the country, issuing hand colored prints in the same spirit as those of that large New York publisher.  One of these firms was founded by James S. Baillie, who had started as a framer and artist, and for several years was a colorist for Nathaniel Currier.  Though only in existence for about a decade, Baillie issued many fine prints.  A wonderful example of nineteenth century Americana.
