Etching of two terriers by Marguerite Kirmse.  Born in Bournemouth, England in 1885, Kirmse worked as an etcher, painter and sculptor in New York. She was an illustrator for many magazines, especially in Philadelphia from the 1920s to the 1940s, and is best known as an etcher of dogs.  She died in Bridgewater, Connecticut in 1954.  Ref.: Who Was Who in American Art, p. 340.
